Vocury (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (“Vocury” or the “App”). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely using industry-standard encryption). This information is necessary to provide you with access to the App and manage your subscription.
1.2 Audio Data
When you use Vocury's translation features, the App captures audio from your device's microphone. This audio is processed in real-time to provide transcription and translation services. We do not store your audio recordings on our servers after processing is complete. Audio data is streamed, processed, and immediately discarded.
1.3 Usage Data
We may collect information about how you interact with the App, including:
- Device type and operating system version
- Language pair selections
- Feature usage (which translation modes you use)
- Session duration and frequency
- Crash logs and performance data
1.4 Subscription & Payment Information
Subscription purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not directly collect or store your payment information. Apple handles all payment processing in accordance with their own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's translation services
- Manage your account and subscription
- Send you important notices (service updates, security alerts)
- Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and technical issues
3. Third-Party Services
Vocury uses the following third-party services to power its features:
- Speech Recognition (Deepgram): Audio data is sent to Deepgram for transcription. Deepgram processes audio in real-time and does not retain your audio data after processing.
- Translation (OpenAI): Transcribed text is sent to OpenAI for translation. OpenAI processes text requests in real-time and does not use your data for training purposes.
- Authentication Services: We use secure authentication infrastructure to manage user accounts.
Each of these third-party service providers has their own privacy policy governing their use of your data. We carefully select providers that maintain high standards of data protection.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. Audio data is processed in real-time and is not retained after the translation is delivered. Usage analytics are retained in anonymized form.
You can delete your account and associated data directly within the app under Settings > Delete Account, or by contacting us at support@vocury.com.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Secure password hashing
- Regular security audits
- Access controls and authentication for internal systems
While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy
Vocury is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
